syndevkit moves to the PSP

so, work on chiclet has, for many reasons, stalled at the moment. i do still plan on releasing the source code i used to make my music, it's just hard to figure out exactly how to do it in such a way that it's actually useful. also, i have been focusing a lot of my attention to the Sony PSP. it's a really neat little machine and it's possible to write your own homebrew applications for it. with this in mind i have ported syndevkit to the PSP, slapped on a rather ugly interface, and now we have my latest creation, PSPSeq! you can read a bit more about it and download the program here. enjoy!

more musical madness, and syndevkit update

i wrote a new song using chiclet. it's pretty nifty, perhaps the danciest thing i've done yet (though i seem to get bored when i try to make something truly 4 on the floor). anyways it's called micromonkey and you can get it here in the music section of this website.
i've started working on a C/PC port of SynDevKit. most of the basic infrastructure is there, just a lot of details to tend to. once that reaches some level of stability and usefullness i'll start posting links to it here. stay tuned!

chiclet in competition, new music online, and impending software releases.

it's been far too long. the big news is:

the dsp music syndicate entered chiclet into VidaLife, an artificial life competition, and won third place! we are quite excited by this development. additional information can be found here. encasing electronics in concrete is a challenge, much easier than writing a song which lasts for 30 years. a link to an excerpt from our song can be found in the music section of this website.
speaking of music, this page is substantially revamped, with links to the artificial life song, shows i've played at bars around boston, and other bits and bobs. check it out.
i am planning on releasing a version of my audio development environment quite soon, so everyone can join in the fun. email me at syndevkit [at] dspmusic [dot] org, and i'll let you know when it is released.

chiclet takes center stage.

hello again! things are still churning on this project. there are two big pieces of news:

the dsp music syndicate is entering chiclet into VidaLife, an artificial life competition. we created a 30 year song with some interesting elements which evolve over time. at some point soon we'll put up links to the music, though it will most likely not include the entire song. ;)

oh, and we're encasing chiclet in concrete for the artificial life project, which is pretty neat.

the long awaited update.

quite a lot has happened with the dspmusic project. here's the big stuff.

played a number of shows in cambridge. these include two shows at the now defunct appliance of science. the first show is archived here. i also played one show at signals and systems. lastly, i performed my dspmusic craziness at opening of collision III at the MIT museum.
i have a song on the adhesive records compilation left bank. you can listen to it here (note that this is basically the same song as rivergods6). distribution has been tough. try contacting them directly if you want a copy.
and most exciting of all, i have been working with three DSP freaks on what we are currently calling chiclet. and since all collectives must have a name, we are the DSP music syndicate. fear us. our project is on display until may 11th at the compton gallery at MIT as a part of COLLISIONfive. we have much planned for this project. to learn more go here.

so yes, life has been very busy and very good. maybe someday i'll learn some html.
